"The Swedish Federation warned the Israeli delegation that they had concrete threats of an attack on the Israelis during the competition. They asked the Israeli delegation to cancel the trip due to security problems and the flight was indeed canceled. A senior Swedish taekwondo official told his colleagues in Israel: "Ten thousand members of a Muslim organization are threatening to settle the account with you because of the war in Gaza." The threat was received by email from somebody claiming to represent a pro-Palestinian organization."
Whether those threats are credible is one thing. Whether Sweden is making the situation worse by granting these violent fanatics a hecklers' veto - which is how they've been dealing with anti-Jewish incitement for years - is something totally different. Across Sweden Jewish buildings are being set on fire:
I don't know if the headline is an exxageration or not. Anti-Semitism is certainly on the rise in Europe. And there is apparently quite a bit of racism in Malmo.
and they wonder why they are disliked..
Apparently the U.K. is an exception...they appear to be well-liked there: Radical Al-Qaeda Cleric Receives £50,000 In Welfare Benefits
The Swedes are no longer at home in their own country. What goes for Sweden goes for the rest of Europe.
Eurabia is done for.
You are right consultant13. It's all about that slow road to the acceptance of terrorism and fear there of. They'd rather bend over and take it up the arse, than to put their foot down and squash those idiots. They have no idea that they are letting the terrorists know that their crap is working. Sweden, you guys just opened Pandora's box on this one. You let the evils loose on your entire country. Now you're gonna be told what to do time after time after time. They win......you lose.....and you only have yourselves to blame.
Unbelievable.
First Spain had terms dictated to them and now the country of Sweden.
Whats next.

Some people would say the U.S. is next, but I would disagree with that assesment-- too many Americans take the Bill of Rights too seriously.
Especially the "Provision For Enforcement When All Else Fails" (AKA "The Second Amendment" :-)
too many Americans take the Bill of Rights too seriously.
Too bad the current Executive does not.
The Swedish government better grow a pair. The word deportation comes to mind. Looks to me that Sweden is already lost.
Protests and manifestations are on the rise due to the war in Gaza, but the claims of violence--as opposed to threats--do not seem warranted.
It is certainly disturbing that Sweden's police seem cowed by these demonstrators. I suggest that is a problem of police policy and procedures. This culture is known for its tolerance, and they probably haven't seen upheavals since WWII. The U.S. has used its police for riot control and to stem violence much more consistently over our short history. That practice has prepared us better to deal with civil unrest, while Sweden got caught unawares.
Just my opinion...
This is a very disturbing trend. The use of "security risk" as an excuse to debar Israeli competitors from sporting events and such-like.
The fact that someone might protest is not a valid excuse to apply sporting sanctions. If the competitor is entitled to compete they are entitled and that is that. The fact that someone else might protest is irrelevant. The "someone else" has a right to protest provided they do so peacefully, and if they do not act peacefully they get locked up and charged like any other criminal.
If we let Sweden and other countries throw in the towel for their own convenience at the first hint of trouble then we are also throwing away our hard-won freedoms.
Dennis, I completely agree with you.
It's unfriggin believable! A country of 9.2 million people being told what to do by 10,000 jerk-offs. If they dont get their s**t together over there, we over here should stop buying Volvos and Electrolux vacuums. WHAT A BUNCH OF WHIMPS!!!
The Swedes like to portray themselves as tolerant, but there's a long history of racism in the country. (And don't forget-- in WWII, although they were supposedly "neutral'-- its was Swedish iron ore that wsas used to maek the steel that supplied the Nazi war machine).
Of course there are racists in every country-- but it seems that Sweden has more than its share. (Interestingly, Denmark, while also a Scandinavian country, has long been one of the more tolerant countries in Europe, and a staunch defender of freedom).
"The Swedes like to portray themselves as tolerant, but there's a long history of racism in the country. "
well if they continue to allow these moron's to do as they please because they are "neutral", they won't have to worry about being tolerant, they'll be taken & run over by these idiots
Second Amendment :)
