" A high-ranking al Qaeda leader has called on China's minority Uyghurs to prepare for a holy war against the Chinese government.

Security has been increased recently on the streets of Urumqi, Xinjiang's capital.

"There is no way for salvation and to lift this oppression and tyranny unless you ... seriously prepare for jihad in the name of God and carry your weapons against the ruthless brutal invader thugs," Abu Yahia Al-Libi said Wednesday in a video on an Islamist Web site. He delivered his message in Arabic.

Common Sense Mike

I am confused? Haven't Democrats in congress been telling us for years now that Al Qaeda wasn't real and just imagined by Bush as an excuse to invade Iraq for oil? Now this imaginary figment of Bush's imagination is threatening China?

Al-Libi's proclamation was in reaction to the violence that has recently shaken Urumqi, Xinjiang's capital. There, long-simmering resentment between minority Uyghurs and majority Han Chinese erupted into riots and left more than 200 people dead in July.

The following month, a series of stabbings -- with syringes used as weapons -- added to the unrest.

"What we saw and heard in the recent events in Turkistan was not accidental and didn't happen overnight. This is an intifada (an uprising) and a usual response to the decades of oppression....

Al-Libi regularly produces video messages and has, in the past, called on Pakistanis and Somalis to resist their "apostate" governments. He is considered one of al Qaeda's top strategists and one of its most vocal leaders in its propaganda campaign

"Irresistable force" (violent extremist Islamist jihad) meets "immovable object" (Chinese totalitarianism's typical behaviour-- brutal suppression of dissent). This could get really nasty fast.

My guess is that they will deal with it the same way they deal with other groups who dissent-- extremely brutally!

But of course in terms of the violent jihadis-- they are dealing with a group that is equally barbaric-- this will get very ugly.

Since China's involved, I would say "definitely yes".

(And, now that I think of it-- the same goes for al-Qaeda).

Islamic extremism-- and a brutal dictatorship. Neither of which has the slightest concern for human rights...two really nasty forces at play here.

RUH ROH!

These people are picking a fight with both US and CHINA? They really do want to get to those 72 virgins as quickly as possible.

There is LITTLE better news as far as i'm concerned.. the enemy of your enemy is your friend.. And this will undoubtedly open up a whole avenue of talks and cooperation between China and the US.

Maybe.

But I wonder which side (if any) Obama will want to support? Would he dare to support China and be seen as anti-Muslim? But-- would he dare support the other side-- the side that al-Qaeda has aligned themselves with?

He could choose to remain neutral (neutral . . . when al-Qaeda is involved?)-- have Hillary make some sort of "U.N. wannabee-like" statement "condemning acts of violence by all involved" yadda yadda yadda...saying and doing nothing of much significance.

But, as the old saying goes:

Confucius say: "Man standing in middle of road get hit by cars going in both directions".

This may create quite a dilemma for the Obama administration...

Krishna...#4.2...and all over the World!

Another example of why we are fighting in Afghanistan...without the full support of our Government. Do you think China is going to ignore this like Obama is?

First, let me say...G_D Bless our Armed Forces men and women throughout the world.

If it were not for these brave soldiers who believe whole heartedly in the preservation of Freedom and Democracy, we would be fighting the enemy in our own back yard.

Second...we need to give these warriors all the tools and support they need to do the job. They have no doubts that there mission will succeed.

Third...They need the support of the people and the government squarely behind them. Any show of hesitation...any sign of weakness, emboldens and empowers the enemy!

This, unfortunately, is the message our government is sending to our enemy right now. Our brave soldiers deserve better than this! It is up to us, the citizens of this once great Nation, to rise up...to speak up loudly in support of our troops and tell Obama...

"There is only one option the American people will accept. That is VICTORY with the full support the government."

If you are inclined to believe that this war is uneccessary, think again! The enemy has one goal...to dominate the world and convert you to their beliefs. If you don't believe me, make a list of all the countries that the terrorists are engaged in fighting with bombings and suicide bombings...the list grows eveyday. You can add the Al-Qaeda announcement to begin their Jihad in China as of today.

Sorry Krishna...I know this comment is off topic, but I couldn't stop myself...to me, it is all related.

Actually, that was my initial reponse as well. This could make a significant change in the balance of power in the war agaiainst Islamic extremism (erroneously labeled "The War Against Terror" by the politically correct).

I think this is actually WWIV...its the Islamic extremists against...everyone else! Little by little more and more countries will come to realize the true nature of the threat-- the chinese are just the latest to wake up...

The sad part, of ocurse, is that many innocent people will suffer...but then that's always the case when Islamists swing into action :-(

Al Qaeda tells China's Uyghurs to prepare for holy war

    holy $hit, another holy war....?

Actually its not another war war ("jihad")-- its all part of the same worldwide jihad by Islamic extremists (AKA "Islamists").

The politically correct media tries to perpetrate the myth that these are all siolated, unrelated incidents-- but they're all part fo the same struggle for word dom9nation-- from the two attacks on the WTC, to the terror attacks on the London Underground, the Madrid trains, the Moscow theatre-- the Chechnya & Ma'Alot schoolhouse massacres-- the "beltway snipers"..the "Chapel Hill Jihadi"...Bali...the beheadiong of Bhuddist Monks in Thailand-- and Christians in the Phillapines...burning of Christian Churches in Nigeria..destruction of Chrurches in Egypt..the list goers on and on.

Perhaps the best explanation of it all I've seen is in this short video. Its specifically about the jiadi group Hamas...but if you understand their motives, you understabnd the motives of the rest:

"Forget everything the mainstream media tells you about the "cycle of violence" and the "peace process." The conflict in the Middle East boils down to one issue; the imposition of Islam upon the world. Hamas, as a Muslim Brotherhood affiliate, is perfectly open about its desire for a global Islamic caliphate. Such an enemy by definition can never be appeased, and must be destroyed".

If and when that happens, we ask Red China to send 1 million Red troops into Afghanistan to mop up the Taliban and man the border to Pakistan.

It is about time that Red China realizes that it is also on the hit list from Al Qaeda.

Next up for Al-Qaeda---flying planes into Beijing buildings a la NYC.

Or even just trying to blow up a building with explosives in a truck-- remember when Islamists tried that? (Their first attempt at bringing down the WTC):

1993: World Trade Center bomb terrorises New York
A suspected car bomb has exploded underneath the World Trade Center in New York killing at least five people and injuring scores more.
The bombing has shocked America which had seemed immune from acts of terrorism that have plagued other parts of the world.

An emotional Mario Cuomo, New York's state governor, told journalists: "We all have that feeling of being violated. No foreign people or force has ever done this to us. Until now we were invulnerable."

    (LINK)

Of course that was just one of many terror attacks ..worldwide.

If and when that happens, we ask Red China to send 1 million Red troops into Afghanistan to mop up the Taliban and man the border to Pakistan.

Somehow I had always thought of Afghanistan as being further west than it actually is. After I read this article I looked at a map-- and saw that it has a common border with-- China! (And of course Pakistan border China as well).

U.S. still be in charge ? Also if the 2 countries border each other

Al Qaeda likes to recruit and this kind of propaganda probably is intended to get more membership and hence more money for their international terrorist plans.

What Al Qaeda wants to do the most is not be defeated, but to fester and survive and grow and dictate control gradually into the areas they target.

Al Qaeda has all the time in the world to accomplish its objectives.

We can expect Al Qaeda to be around for as far as the eye can see, unfortunately.

From coverage of the same story on another site:

"This massacre is not being carried out by criminal Crusaders or evil Jews who have committed crimes against our nation," al-Libi stated.

"Today, a new massacre is being carried out by Buddhist nationalists and communists against the Muslim population in eastern Turkestan," said al-Libi.
He described China's presence in Xinjiang as an "occupation" and claimed the colonisation of the province has made the Muslim population a minority.

Uighurs make up 8 million people out of Xinjiang's population of 20 million. It covers one-sixth of the country and is relatively sparsely populated.

A total of 197 people were killed over several days of unrest in Xinjiang in July and rioting in the capital Urumqi. Most of those who died were from the Han Chinese majority.

The sneak attack on Pearl Harbour really pissed off Americans--and that was aimed at the military. Here's the thing about terrorism deliberately aimed at civilians. it gets the targtet popualtion very, very angry. And if initial efforts to contain violent jihad-- then the attacks are stepped up (and the "useful idiots" of the world appoint Gioldstone Commissions-- to "investigate" sefl-defense efforts of the vitim population...

non-violence means do something to fix the wrong and avoid committing wrong action that could harm any one physical or mentally, it can be done , it's not easy to accomplish. wisdom is the unswer.

        Thanks for the explanation :-)

I guess when I saw the word "fight" I had immediately thought of violence -- but you do have a point-- it could mean non-violence as well.
