Recent research has indicated that we may need higher levels than previously thought-- not only for avoiding Parkinsons, but for many other things.

this is not new. That is one of the reasons that people need some sunlight. Taking supplements is not always the solution, they just don't work as well as the actual sunlight. try to get outside for at least 30 minutes a day, if nothing else take a walk.

this is not new.

Actually there is something new.

For many years, the "experts" felt that since Vitamin D is fat soluable, and taking too much could be toxic, supplements had much lower amounts. Up until recently, almost all brands of multivitamins has 400 I.U.

More recently they began to realize that what they thought was a valid MDR was too low. Now many multi-vitamins have changed-- and contain 1000 I.U. And its not uncommon to see "stand alone' supplements of 1000 IU (even 2000 IU ) being prominently displayed.

Taking supplements is not always the solution, they just don't work as well as the actual sunlight.

If you live in the northern part of the US or in Canada -- you may not be getting enough-- especially in the winter.

And another change in out views of health-- there's more data that indicates that many Americans are getting too much sun-- skin cancers are rising in frequency.
