Supreme Council of Antiquities succumbs to pressure over rumors that Jewish Masons were on their way to Cairo to claim pyramids as their own.

One SCA employee claimed that a crew of 1,200 Jews were planning to attend the event, crowning the mightiest of the three structures with a Star of David in order to assert the claim that Jewish slaves built the pyramids, and not the ancient Egyptians, Egyptian daily Al Ahram reported.

Former SCA Secretary General Abdel Halim Noureddin told Al Ahram Jewish Masons have been trying to cap the Great Pyramid since 1931 with the Jewish emblem, so this instance should not be surprising.

No-- given what I know of the Egyptians & their love for conspiracy theories about the Jews, I'm not surprised in the least!

what I know of the Egyptians

Hi dr know

What I notice ' not know' is that Military council is not motivated by the hundreds of silly rumours that rife in the air since the begining of protests in January

I suppose and still 'not know' that the members of M.Council are fed up with the irresponsible riots in front of Israeli embassy and they have information that groups from inside, mostly from ouside will enjoy this happens again after throwing such rumour on internet , it's enough to get few hundreds believing it to intiate riots . Closing Pyramids closes the door of troubles

When you say "hundreds of silly rumours"-- are you referring to stories such as these???

"Arab Spring": Mother Of Alaa Abdel-Fattah, Jailed Egyptian Blogger, On Hunger Strike

"Arab Spring": Police, Christians clash in Cairo- 23 killed, 150 injured

A massacre at the hands of the authorities

Christian minorities fear Arab Spring may threaten their existence

Arab Spring: Egyptian Military more brutal than Mubarak regime, eyewitnesses say

Like you really don't know what I mean. Anyway I woudn't expect you relate and not swerving into your precious link collection named 'they burn they doomed'

Of course I mean rumours like this one put intentionally on internet by some one invents something for purpose , like an evil anynomous parasites scream on Facebook : Wake up muslems they burn Qura'an in Church , go over there!! My Christian brothers muslems kidnapped christian girl go resque her!! Few believe this evil BS but few is enough to stirr trouble . For your pleasure Egypt troubles never grow further , it fades out and people forget and move on every time just living behind a pile of outdated links on internet to use by Egypt-lovers

Spare the precious links for some one else , we know what's going on here from a wider outlook - not a selective outlook- not the links you post , the situation is not bad just on passing tough cross road of change

Like you really don't know what I mean.

Well, actually i didn't-- because the links I posted were not rumours but fact!

(And, btw, most of the news articles I post about Egypt are from al Masry al Youm--a respected Egyptian paper!)

Therefore, it wasn't clear what "rumours" you were referring to-- until you mentioned that it was some stuff you saw on facebook:

Of course I mean rumours like this one put intentionally on internet by some one invents something for purpose , like an evil anynomous parasites scream on Facebook

I'm sure there are man rumours on Facebook-- as well as other sites. But all the links i have provided are actually facts! These absurd conspiracy theories are actually believed by many Egyptians.

So I wonder-- why are you trying to derail this conversation?

No you derail every time not me , you know that I was talking about the rumour in the seed in my first post #1.1 . Who derailed in his reply?? I said that military on closing Pyramids is not a 'naive rumour believer' and not against the Jew's visit, rather than motivated by serious anticipation of violence from people believing the rumour or just using it to plan for new attacks on the embassy. Instead of replying my point you answered with a pile of links about different incidents , non of them relates to my msg about military working at aborting anticipated violence

If you insist to talk about conspiracy , conspiracy people exist in every culture and country including yours but you focus at Egypt alone. Sometimes conspiracy is issued by skeptical people , in other cases conspiracy is issued and used by governments to promote particular policy or tactic or agenda like using 'pressure card' of minorities against Egypt and magnifying every incident and avoid mentioning the fact that the majority live in peace together since 1400 years. This intensive focus at individual violations makes it look like Christians killed on daily scale and not having lives and jobs and houses and money and friends in Egypt

Like if those hypocrite governments that are focusing at Egypt's affairs are not discriminating racially against muslems in their countries , some of them to compare with Apartheid S.Africa

According to a report from British daily the Telegraph, a Polish numerologist group had, in fact, received permission from the Egyptian government to hold a ceremony at the pyramids in order to protect the world from "cosmic forces" aimed at destroying Earth next year.

"The Ceremony planed for November 11, 2011 at Gizah [sic] Plateau is canceled due to security concerns. All three Pyramids will be closed during that day in spite of the fact that about 2000 tourists from all over the world wanted to participate at the evening event."

"closed during that day ...canceled due to security concerns."

Understandable. A threatened invasion of Egypt by 1200 Jewish Masons intent on putting a Jewish Star on top of the pyramid (thus claiming it for the Jews) is something that is not to be taken lightly! This action by the Supreme Council of Antiquities was a prudent one indeed!

I noticed that this had not been clipped to the Newsvine Satire group, but I thought that since there is doubt as to whether this was just a joke or in fact true, perhaps the Newsviners who enjoy satire would appreciate its ridiculousness. For archaeology alone there are many sites of interest-- for example Luxor.

Well, when it comes to absurd conspiracy theories about the Jews, you can usually count on the Egyptians to provide some outlandish "comedy".

Here's another one (and yes, many of them actually do believe this stuff):

Israel Stealing Water from the Nile?

The crafty Jews have managed to dig wells from the Negev, through the entire Sinai and past the Suez Canal in order to steal precious Nile water, according to unnamed "human rights" activists.

"Jewish Masons" are now going to float baskets in the Nile--

Here's some background on the absurd conspiracy theories about Masons:

Historically, complaints have been made that the Masons have secretly plotted to create a society based on the revolutionary ideals of liberty, equality, fraternity, separation of church and state and (in Nazi Germany) a Jewish plot for religious tolerance.[25]

Similarly, some anti-Masons have claimed that Freemasonry is a Jewish front for world domination, or is at least controlled by Jews for this goal. An example of this is the notorious literary forgery The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Hitler outlawed Freemasonry partially for this reason.[26]

The covenant of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas claims that Freemasonry is a "secret society" founded as part of a Zionist plot to control the world.

"Jewish Masons" are now going to float baskets in the Nile--

Here's some background on the absurd conspiracy theories about Masons:

Of course various groups have bashed the Freemasons-- and created all sorts of bizarre conspiracy theories about them. Probably because they are a secret order.

And this includes a lot of religious groups-- and these theories are not only rife in the west, but in the Muslim world as well:

        Muslim anti-Masonry

Many Islamic anti-Masonic arguments are closely tied to both Anti-Semitism and Anti-Zionism . . .

        More:

Some Muslim anti-Masons argue that Freemasonry promotes the interests of the Jews around the world and that one of its aims is to rebuild the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem after destroying the Al-Aqsa Mosque.[38]

In article 28 of its Covenant, Hamas states that Freemasonry, Rotary, and other similar groups "work in the interest of Zionism and according to its instructions...."[39] Many countries with a significant Muslim population do not allow Masonic establishments within their jurisdictions.

        Freemasons didn't build the pyramids.

Freemasonry claims its origins in the masons who built the Temple in Jerusalem; its symbolism and paraphernalia are derived from the tools used by those masons.

You're right, however, in that there is no direct connection of the Freemasons or the Jewish masons who built the Temple to the Pyramids. The connection implied in the article derives from the Old Testament account of Jewish slave labor used to build the Pyramids: Jewish slaves building the pyramids => Jewish masons building the Temple => modern Freemasons.

Pretty sketchy, if you ask me. But then pretty much all the Muslim theories and rumors about Jewish conspiracies and plots are, well, imaginative, to be charitable.

I don't honestly know, but there is archaeological evidence, as well as some documentary evidence from sources other than the Bible, that there was indeed a sizeable Jewish population in Egypt at the time.

It seems pretty unlikely the Egyptians would have failed to make use of that resource; and there is evidence Jews were involved in other segments of the economy such as herding and mining. I don't think it would be at all safe to say that Jews built the Pyramids, but I do think it would be reasonable to conclude they were a portion of the workforce.

        Freemasonry a "Zionist plot"?

Yup-- strange as it may seem to educated westerners, Hamas really believes this foolishness. As well as a lot more!

If you are unfamiliar with the actual Hamas document, Newsvines's own Bob Nelson (he of the stangely coloured hat) has a great article on the subject-- as well as a very enlightening discussion:

The Hamas Charter (The Covenant of the Islamic Resistance Movement)

We hear about the Hamas Charter quite often... but we only see an occasional extract from it. I though it might be useful to post the whole document: The Hamas Charter

It is a tough read, but worth it! I understand that florid language is part of Arab culture... but still! There are bits that are hard to believe, like Article 19, line 4:

All this is utterly serious and no jest, for those who are fighters do not jest.

Here are a few extracts that I found significant:

        From your seed:

One SCA employee claimed that a crew of 1,200 Jews were planning to attend the event, crowning the mightiest of the three structures with a Star of David in order to assert the claim that Jewish slaves built the pyramids, and not the ancient Egyptians, Egyptian daily Al Ahram reported.

        From Wikipedia:

Freemasonry is a fraternal organisation that arose from obscure origins in the late 16th to early 17th century. Freemasonry now exists in various forms all over the world, with a membership estimated at around six million, including approximately 150,000 under the jurisdictions of the Grand Lodge of Scotland and Grand Lodge of Ireland, over a quarter of a million under the jurisdiction of the United Grand Lodge of England[1] and just under two million in the United States.[2]

I recall that some time ago there was a discussion about masonry and Freemasons on Newsvine to which both Krishna and I, along with others, contributed. It would take me too long to try to find it now, and I'm a little tired since it's about 3:15 a.m. where I am, but then this is an important issue for altruistic masons who work without recompense, is it not? Actually, considering the Hamas covenant, the issue must be an important one for that sect of Muslims, I suppose. Could Hamas just have codified the Muslim Brotherhood's concerns about it? Hamas is somewhat related with the Muslim Brotherhood are they not, and the Muslim Brotherhood is well ensconced in Egypt I believe. So that could be the connection.

Buzz of the Orient-- Freemasonry (and misconceptions about it) is quite fascinating.

Over the years, I have seen conspiracy theories about Freemasonry (and its alleged connection to "Zionism"-- or even just to "Jews") in a lot of places in the Arab media. At first i was quite surprised, as freemasonry is really no threat to Islam (or any other religion for that matter). In fact, in the U.S., I believe the religious breakdown of Freemasons parallels, pretty much, that of the society as a whole-- most Freemasons are also Christians, for example. There's no conflict).

But, as I mentioned-- for some reason there is a fiar amount of paranoia about Freemasonry in the Arab world. And allegations that it is controlled by the Jews, etc, etc. (Also not true).

Here's an interesting discussion about Muslim Paranoia about Freemasonry on Yahoo Answers I came across recently-- very interesting stuff:

Question: Fellow Muslims, what do u think of freemasonry??

All my life, I was taught that freemason is an evil jewish organisation, but when I read about it on Wikipedia, any believer of a supreme being could become a mason.

        What makes you dislike it?

Is it because it was founded by Jews? Or is it because you think it has relations with the anti-christ? If so, how?

I am not defending freemasonry, I just would like to know more about it. As a Muslim, I cannot judge anything just based on what people tell me, without doing any research. So, fellow Muslims, tell me of freemasonry, your views on it, and why u support or oppose it?

A Masonic site, "The Masonic Trowel" says:

... to spread the cement of brotherly love and affection, that cement which unites us into one sacred band or society of brothers, among whom no contention should ever exist, but that noble emulation of who can best work or best agree .

And, here's what they say about Islam and Freemasonry:

        Fatwa regarding Freemasonry

        MUSLIM VIEW

The main symbol of Freemasonry is a protractor imposed over a carpenter's "L", forming what would have been the same as a star of David with one side missing on each triangle, but it still resembles a star of David. As well, the membership certificate has a big eye at the top, which also appears on many hamsas (hamsas are common in both Judaism and Islam). Couple that with what you identify as the Muslim fear or hatred of Freemasonry by Farooq, and it does all start to make sense.

Hezbollah TV: Basketball players from Israel may be Mossad spies

Hezbollah's mouthpiece Al-Manar TV aired a report criticizing Lebanese authorities for allowing eight foreign basketball players who had previously played in Israel to play for teams in Lebanon.

He said Lebanon was "half-asleep" and wondered "how can it be that eight players who have played in the Zionist entity come to play in Lebanon - and one of them is even granted citizenship – without anyone knowing who they really are?"

"Players who came from Israel may have been recruited by Mossad - this is a danger to national security," Sachriya continued.

Egyptians claim Israeli goods cause disease, infertility

An Egyptian Health Ministry official said that chemicals smuggled from Israel are infecting his country's poultry with dangerous viruses, Ynet has learned Monday.

Osama Selim, the head of Egypt's veterinary authority, has called on the People's Assembly to press the local poultry growers' association to fight the use of illegally imported vaccinations and blood serum, which he claimed are exposing the poultry to disease and threaten public health. He added that he does not rule out the possibility of a biological war with the Jewish state...

A member of the Sawarka Bedouin tribe, Muhammad al-Mani'i, who was interviewed on the show, also accused Israel of manufacturing "toxic" jeans that cause infertility. He claimed the Jewish state sells them to Arab countries reduce population growth.

The tribesman said that the denim pants are equipped with belts that contain a magnet, which is the source of their toxic powers.

The President should contract the Jewish Masons to start a wall building project along the border of Mexico.  It would create jobs, promote Israeli diplomacy, and reduce the flow of illegals and crime into the country.  The only disadvantage would be less things to complain about.

Israel already sits on the front lines defending the West and the U.S. so I suppose maybe that idea might work; Israel is used to the job!

          :~)
